Itinerary: Day One

  • 9am meet at specified location. Introductions, assign materials, set up rods

  • 9:30am begin fundamentals of the cast. Beginners and experienced anglers alike are asked to join this portion to build solid foundations and help isolate and fix bad habits.

  • 10:30am Casting game to solidify skills and knowledge

  • 10:45am: Perfect the false cast. False casting is the result of near-perfect casting elements working together. Once the false cast is perfected, the remaining skills can be introduced.

  • 11:30am: We introduce shooting line for distance casting. With the foundation of casting skills behind us, this is a time for fun, success, and celebration as we learn to carry 20 feet of line and add 10-15 feet of line into delivery cast.

  • 12:30pm: Shooting line casting game to solidify skills and knowledge

1pm-2pm: Lunch break! Students may bring their own lunch, or opt to add meals to their entry fee.

  • 2pm: Learn the reach cast! Students will learn how to cast their fly to their target while mending in the air!

  • 2:45pm Reach cast game to solidify skills and knowledge.

  • 3:45pm Accuracy and finesse! Participants will play accuracy games from landing their flies into hoops to knocking over obstacles and much more! Fun low-stakes prizes are awarded during this playful time.

  • 4:45pm: Take it to the water! Participants join instructors on the river to cast and fish on the Yakima river near our campsite.

  • 6pm: Campfire dinner at the campground or participants may break and take themselves to dinner in town or prepare their own dinner at the site. Brats and campfire comfy food will be served.

  • 7pm: Hang time and community vibes

Itinerary: Day Two

12:30pm-1:30pm: Lunch break! Students may bring their own lunch, or opt to add meals to their entry fee.
